The forgotten September 11th:
An American-backed coup d’état in Chile overthrows the democratically elected Marxist Salvador Allende and his government. Allende would commit suicide the same day.
In his place, the country was ruled with a military junta/dictatorship run by Augusto Pinochet.
The new regime had a record of human rights violations. Tens of thousands of Chilean citizens would be deprived of rights, torturted, and killed from 1973 to its demise seventeen years later in 1990.
