A woman hurrying in fear down an area of Sarajevo known as “Sniper alley”.
During the Bosnian War Sarajevo’s main road was lined with snipers hidden in surrounding mountains and high-rise buildings who terrorized the city’s population.
People had to run as fast as they could in hopes that the snipers would miss, or wait for UN assistance. Hundreds died as a result, including many children.
