The Afghan refugee seen around the world on the cover of National Geographic in 1985.
For more than fifteen years her identity was unknown, and she herself was unaware that her portrait was famous.  It was only after the ouster of the Taliban that she was finally found and made aware of the impact of the photo.
Despite being unaware of its impact, she clearly remembered the event - only three pictures had ever been taken of her up until her rediscovery.

At least eight people have been killed so far today in the Afghan capital of Kabul amid two (possibly three) suicide bombings as well as gunfire from gunmen.  Police are still battling with the armed gunmen in the city.
